Healthy Profit: Dr Dominic Er and AsiaMedic in Sesdaq Focus

In this Sesdaq Focus profile, “Healthy Profit” by Janice Wong, Quantum Health team member Dr Dominic Er explains his move from nephrology into the boardroom. After performing the private sector’s first kidney transplant between spouses, Dr Er became managing director of Gleneagles Hospital and later led the takeover of AsiaMatrix, which he transformed into the healthcare group AsiaMedic.

AsiaMedic, at Shaw House on Orchard Road, provided diagnostic imaging and performed eye and cosmetic surgery. Its firsts included the region’s first PET scan for early cancer detection. Under Dr Er, the company turned around, generating a pre-tax profit of $612,000 for the half-year ended 30 June.
